The Red Covered Bridge
The Red Covered Bridge
Spanning over the Poplar River and nestled against Lake Superior’s shoreline is the newly designed Red Covered Bridge. The existing historic red covered bridge was originally designed by Minneosta’s own Architect, Edwin Lundie, and destroyed in a devastating flood in the summer of 2022. Lundie was known for his devotion to detailing and the love of fine craftsmanship and the new design draws on Lundie’s former work to ensure the details and craftsmanship are honest and maintain the character of the existing design.
The new design is a free-span of over 150 feet from abutment to abutment, which has a minimal impact on the environment and avoids any disruption to the trout population below. Keeping our impact on the natural wildlife and vegetation to a minimum was paramount in the new design. The red covered bridge will feature a terminus at end of the bridge that will allow for vistas of the historic property and Lake Superior.
